For more than 50 years, the expert designers who carefully craft Durango® boots have focused on designing authentic western footwear merging style and innovation. Today, this design process also includes collaboration with authentic cowboys and cowgirls who work, play and live in boots. The result is a new generation of high performance western footwear.
Durango is partnering with athletes across the western sports arena, all with a goal to make better boots for their customers. The dialogue, insight and real life product tests have driven the creation of new technologies to support ranching and rodeo lifestyles.
Collaborating with professional team ropers Luke Brown and Paul Eaves, Durango product designers researched and developed new innovations and technologies to support boot wearers from sun up to sun down. This led to the development of the patented Dually Shank System™, which consists of two fiberglass shanks that create twice the torsion stability and midfoot support to reduce boot wear out, especially for cowboys with a natural tendency to roll the foot when walking.
In response to feedback from athlete partners, Durango product developers also responded to the varied preferences and functions of outsole materials. Adapting the popular Rebel Pro™ collection, the brand launched a leather-bottomed option to help riders get in and out of stirrups with ease, introducing Arena Pro™. Marrying the two options, Durango is currently launching a hybrid-sole collection, Arena Pro XRT™, which features a leather outsole with injected rubber for durability and traction.
Expanding the brand’s alliance with the western sports world, Durango announced a three-year commitment as the presenting sponsor of RFD-TV’s The American Rodeo beginning in 2020. With prize money surpassing $2.4 million, The American is the richest weekend in western sports.
Leading up to the big event, Durango signed four additional top athletes in a variety of categories including tie-down roper Shane Hanchey, bareback rider Orin Larsen, barrel racer Lisa Lockhart and steer wrestler Ty Erickson. Together with Brown and Eaves, this created the inaugural Team Durango, an elite class of athletes who ride for the brand.
Through these partnerships, Durango has been able to infuse new collections with real-world performance features that stand out to even the most demanding western athletes.
Durango brings customers a variety of boots to fit the many facets of the western lifestyle, including rugged western work boots, premium exotics, durable riding boots and fashionable silhouettes. The brand’s customer-centric collaborations and new innovations will play a strong role in the variety of styles yet to come.
